WEEK 12 - MILESTONE PROJECTS!

week 12 -

MILESTONE PROJECTS recap

a.) Objectified Response

This first object was inspired by the iMac G3 which is shown briefly in the film but it really resonated with me. I absolutely love Apple's old designs, especially these G3 computers :) My object is definitely not a replica but trying to recreate the shape of this design was fun and challenging. I have never used this program or any 3D program for that matter but I enjoyed how fairly easy it is to use and very customizable. I really enjoy using tinker and I plan to use it more in the future.

b.) Mesh Mashup

For this assignment, I started by finding objects that interested me and I draw a lot, mushrooms first came to mind, and then teeth, which I thought could be used for the little white dots. I wanted the mushrooms to be sporting from something so I settled on this lovely hand model. it ended up being my strongest and my personal favorite idea :) After I chose to use the first concept, I added both the animal teeth idea and the mushrooms coming out of the hand. I think it added fore variety to the model and made it more interesting. I also added some smaller plants sprouting from the hand which was just my own idea. I did this because I wanted to incorporate more naturality and environment to the model which was suggested for some of my other concepts :). It was hard to find any realistic plantlife models so I played around with a few and settled on this one that kinda reminds me of lego plants which is a bonus in my book. the final render was honestly a struggle for me but with this first assignment, I was able to learn so much about 3D modeling so its all worth it :)

c.) Papercraft Object

With this project, I started by playing around with the papercraft tools, making objects that came to mind. I actually found this project a lot more straightforward than the last which meant to me that I was finally improving! At last!! when it came to the next week, focusing on an object of personal significance, I choose to recreate my family’s smudging bowl and wolf rattle(ia'tEn). I created both of them but settled on the rattle since it assembled a lot better in the printing stage and I liked the overall look more. a struggle with this assignment was scaling. My first print-off was way too small so I blew each element up to 200%. With the final revision, I focused mainly on adding decorative details and adding all the extra tabs to make it stronger and more functional. I went on a trip to Michaels's craft store to find some pretty paper that matches the og object’s wood and paint texture. I spent a lot of time trying to replicate the details of the original work. Im really happy with this assignment :)

d.) Hybrid 3D Model

For the final assignment, I had a lot of fun working in a team to create something fun and interesting. at this point, I finally felt comfortable and confident using 3d modeling which was great! Kyle and Jillian were great and I learned a lot from them they were very flexible and understanding individuals to collaborate with. For our final design, we found a way to incorporate all our unique styles and ideas into one final self-supporting vessel.
